Managing Prudential Risk in Residential Care Discussion Paper

The following discussion paper is in response to the Department’s call for public consultation on ‘Managing Prudential Risk in Residential Aged Care’.

Managing prudential risk is vital. However, our analysis shows that the current suggested options to strengthen the regulatory framework will impose a heavy regulatory burden on all aged care providers yet provide limited reduction on the risk exposure to the Department.

In our submission, we show that the potential impact (cost) could be significantly reduced with alternative policy responses that would also be beneficial to the viability and sustainability of the sector.
